As part of the project Art Dredge, we are offering you the chance to attend a painting workshop with artist Matt Sewell, giving you the chance to pick up some tips and techniques, but also allowing you the opportunity to have your work exhibited alongside him at an exhibition in Manchester!
The Art Dredge is an Arts council funded project, being delivered in partnership by not for profit arts organisation Spearfish Workshops and the Canal and River trust.
The aim of the project is to highlight the amount of rubbish that is discarded in the Rochdale canal.
With the help of a great group of volunteers, a section of the canal was dredged on Friday, then with the items recovered, three artists, Matt Sewell, Jason Heppenstall, Donna Bramall will be creating pieces for an exhibition to be held at Piccadilly Place on the 22nd May.
As part of this project, the artists will be working with various groups to create work for the exhibition.
On Friday the 21st of March, Matt Sewell will be holding a workshop in our basement, where you will be invited to create your own painted piece, on an item recovered at the dredge.
The workshop is open to anybody, of any skill level and any age!
At the workshop you will be using acrylics to paint on to the various items.
The workshop starts at 12.30 and runs until 4pm
There are only 10 spaces available!
To register your interest in attending, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Wednesday 19th!
Attendees will be chosen at random on Thursday morning and notified that day!
