We’re looking forward to heading along to the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair which opens this Thursday. With over 160 of the UK’s most talented designers and makers showing work across a range of practices it promises to be an opportunity to witness the current trends within craft and design.
This year the GNCCF will present a specially curated selling exhibition, Ornament, which features artists from public and private collections across the North West. Curated by Kelda Savage, the exhibition aims to showcase the prominence and quality of contemporary craft in the region. Featuring the work of artists such as textile artist Alice Kettle and glass maker Bob Crooks, the exhibition promises to engage visitors with contemporary craft and offer the opportunity for people to begin their own collection. Alongside Ornament, six new designers from Manchester School of Art have been selected to exhibit in the GNCCF’s Graduate showcase. Selected in their final year of university, they will join a further eight makers that were selected at New Designers in London. We’re looking forward to seeing their work after a standout degree show this summer.
