We’ve had a great time this year, and we want to say a big thank you to all of you for coming along on the ride with us! We love capturing what goes on behind the scenes on Instagram, but in case you missed it, here are our top 10 favourite pictures and memories from 2014:#10
In November we hosted our first Dog Day Afternoon event where we invited you to bring down your dog and get a photobooth picture of them for free. We put the pictures to public vote on our Instagram and Johnny Wishbone, a Dachshund puppy, was the champion. We love dogs here at Fred’s (check out our top products for people who love dogs) and always welcome you bringing your four legged friends for a visit.
You spoke and we listened this year! We had so many customer requests for Copic Markers we couldn’t refuse and they sure have been popular. From Cartoonists to Fashion Designers and from Illustrators to Graphics students these markers have proved to be a pencil case staple.
Back in May we took part in NQ After Dark; a late night event where shops, galleries and bars hosted special events in conjunction with Museums at Night. We opened late, got the beers in and got you to create a portrait using our Photobooths, Risograph printer and some creative pen work. We loved the results so much we have hung them up on our wall to share with everyone.
This year we bought our second laser cutting machine and we’ve had fun experimenting with it (more of that later) and seeing what products we can make here from scratch. You loved our Laser Cut Bauble cards this Christmas and our Laser Cut Letters have been another favourite with you all, at 50p per letter they are a bit of a bargain!
For one Saturday in October we gave Etsy Manchester the run of our window for a live crafting pop-up event. Their window activities drew quite the crowd as passers-by loved seeing what the group were creating throughout the day.
We are proud supporters of the Outhouse Project and this year we worked with them and Graphic Designer Jake Beds to produce a map highlighting the walls that they curate along with other places you can spot street art. If you missed picking up a copy in Bag Thing, don’t worry, you will be able to get them from Manchester Visitor Information Centre and from us in the shop from January.
Google were looking for an interesting venue, creative activities and local food and drink for their City Experts event, so we obliged. Taking over all three floors of the shop Google’s City Experts got to go in our Photobooths, make a Risograph zine with Mono, Screenprint with One69a, sample local beers from Beermoth, eat delicious food from Bakerie, try North Tea Powers legendary Cold Brew Coffee and listen to Pasta Paul‘s choice music selection.
It all got a bit Jurassic Park in the laser studio this summer when our Stuart fashioned himself as the John Hammond of the laser cutting world.
Our friends Lumi challenged us to a game of Printception with their Inkodye kits and we smashed it!
There’s always one who has to go there at the staff do…!
