The Colorplan history began towards the end of the 1960’s, around the time that BBC2 decided to broadcast in colour. As the worlds of TV, advertising and popular culture changed with this surge of colour, G.F Smith decided to produce a paper range which had the largest offering of colours, weights, size and finished. With the introduction of Colorplan, G.F Smith enabled people working in printed communication to achieve design and advertising styles that previously had not been possible.

Having established a new standard of colour sophistication and subtle texture, Colorpan has continued to evolve; its range has never been as comprehensive or more ideally suited to meet the demands of the modern creative as it is today. Born into a changing world, Colorplan remains an iconic and indispensable element of the designer’s craft. In 1972, the revolutionary Colorplan had no predecessor. Today, it remains without equal.

We are pleased to help continue the legacy of Colorplan and can’t wait to see what you create using the range. If you have something to share don’t forget to tag us in your Instagram pictures.
