Outside the Box is an exhibition and event with a difference. Taking place in Manchester and Altrincham on the 4 – 30 November 2015, the event aims to raise awareness of those affected by homelessness, and the daily challenges they face, especially during the winter months. The event aims to raise money to purchase valuable supplies for those in need and any funds raised will be going directly to charities that work with homeless people.
‘Our aim of this event is to give a voice to the homeless and provide them with an opportunity that is otherwise non-existent; we are very impressed and delighted by the work that has been produced.’
Jed Austin of Abard Creations
The exhibition will feature work produced by those affected by homelessness alongside local artists in all forms of media, including paintings, photography and sculpture. The exhibition has been jointly curated by Bex Wild, Art with a Heart Curator and local student Jenny Jamieson. Participating groups include The Mustard Tree, Booth Centre and Acting on Impulse as well as various local, national and international artists.
The event will open to the public at Nexus Art Café on the 4th November and in Altrincham at Local Creation and 6 George Street on the 24th November. There will be two evenings of arts, film screenings and performance on the 26 and 27 November at alternating venues. There will also be live music by local singer Patrick Green and a candle-lit vigil at the Altrincham Venue.
