Instructions:
We have made a short film on how this technique (see right column), alternatively simply follow our step by step instructions:
First you need a sheet of fusible fibre:
1. Take some fusible fibres and spread fairly thinly over a piece of A4 paper.
2. Place another piece of paper on top of the fibres.
3. Iron the paper using a medium setting. Excess heat will alter the colour properties. Too little and it will not bond.
4. Cut a piece of the friendly plastic just big enough for the cutter you are using.
5. Cut a piece from the sheet of fusible fibres just slightly larger than the friendly plastic.
6. Place the piece of friendly plastic on some tin foil and heat the friendly plastic for approximately 30 seconds with the heat gun. If you haven't got a heat gun you can warm the friendly plastic in the oven, follow these instructions:
Preheat your oven to 200ºF (94ºC). Very lightly oil a piece of aluminium foil and place on a baking tray. Cut the plastic to size and place the plastic on the baking tray and soften for a few minutes. The plastic will melt slightly. The longer that you leave it in the oven the more soft it will become.

7. You need to work quickly whilst the plastic is soft. Place the piece of fusible fibre on top of the softened friendly plastic and press the cutter firmly into the plastic. Pick up the whole thing, along with the tin foil and press the plastic from behind, pushing it up through the fusible fibre. This is what gives it a textured effect.
8. When the plastic is cool, trim the excess friendly plastic from around the shape.
As you can see from the picture you can now use this to make earings or glue two together back to back to make an attractive bead.
