Funky Foam Santa Badge or Fridge magnet

This santa is cheap and easy to make. I've made these with groups of children, it works out very economical and fun! Kids love making things with funky foam.

Difficulty
Time approx. 15 mins

Materials

1 Sheet A4 Funky Foam Red
1 Sheet A4 Funky Foam White
1 Sheet A4 Funky Foam Flesh
1 Pack 5mm Glue on Joggle eyes (10 Pairs)
Most glue's will stick funky foam, but it's best to test the glue on a offcut.
The following glues would be suitable:
Anitas - Tacky Glue - 60Ml
Uhu - Kid Glue 95Ml
The above two glues are particularily suitable if you are doing this project with children. However you can also use:
Uhu - All Purpose Adhesive - 20Ml

You will also need:
Magnetic Tape 1 Metre - to make a fridge magnet
or
Self Adhesive Brooch Pins 31mm - to make a badge.
Instructions:

This is enough funky foam to make at least 24 Santa's. You would also have enough Magnetic tape to make at least 24, however you would need to buy more joggle eyes.

If you are doing this project with a number of children it's a good idea to cut each child a piece of the funky foam just big enough for them to cut the templates out of. This reduces the amount of funky wasted and it's also easier for the children to all start their project at the same time, not waiting for the sheet of funky foam they need.

1. Print the templates shown here and cut them out so that you can draw around them on the funky foam.
2. Use the templates and drawn around the hat and nose shapes on the red funky foam, the beard, hat trim and hat bobble on the white funky foam and the face on the flesh/pink funky foam.
Tip: Biro pen shows up easily on funky foam but make sure when you glue the pieces together you turn the pen side to the back of the badge so that it doesn't show on your finished santa. Alternatively you can use a soft pencil.
3. Carefully cut out all your funky foam pieces.
4. First glue your white beard on top of the face piece as shown in the diagram.
5. Then glue the white hat trim onto the front of the face piece along the top.
6. Now stick the hat to the back of the hat trim and stick on the white bobble, joggle eyes and red nose.
7. Wait until the glue is dry and then fix a 2cm piece of magnetic tape or self adhesive brooch pin to the back of your funky foam santa.
Tip: In my experience, when glueing funky foam, children tend to expect the glue to stick the pieces together instantly. Unfortunately this does not happen, expecially when using a PVA based glue, such as the tacky glue or most children's glues. Therefore encourage them to handle their glued funky foam object as little as possible. Once the pieces are assembled leave it to one side for at least a couple of hours before attempting to attach a magnet or brooch pin.
