Not one but two analog chemical photo booths. One colour, one black and white. Coin operated and available for public use. Here at Fred Aldous we work hard to preserve the magic and historic importance of analogue photography.

Analogue Greatness

Model 17 B&W from 1968

Our first booth is a Photo-Me Model 17 black and white booth from 1968. It was manufactured right here in the UK but spent most of its life in a Woolworth’s store in Canada. It is a real labour of love. Every single morning we top up and stir the chemicals and a test shot is taken to make sure everything is up to temperature ready for the first customer.

Model 17C Colour from 1986

Our second booth is a Photo-Me Model 17C colour booth circa 1986. You have 3 backgrounds to choose from. Orange, blue or white. This is the only public colour analogue photo booth in the whole of Western Europe.

Our Store

We are located right in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, just a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station. We have 25,000 products in 10,000 square feet of space over three floors but you’ll find we are much more than simply a great place to shop. On the ground floor you will be welcomed by two working vintage chemical photo booths, one colour, one black and white. And in the sub-basement you can hire our laser studio or book one of the many craft courses run by our friends at the Ministry of Craft. Trading for 128 years, we have everything you need to make anything you want. #makeanything
