Centre Cane is a round cane made from the inside of the Rattan Palm. It is imported from Hong Kong, China and Indonesia. Used for basketry work. Centre cane is very brittle when dry but extremely strong when damp. Therefore centre cane should not be used dry. Soak the cane for about five minutes or even just dip it in water, then wrap it in a damp cloth and leave it at least fifteen minutes before using. If it becomes dry in working, damp it with a wet cloth. This is a natural material, therefore the weight may vary due to moisture loss.
