It is imported from Hong Kong, China and Indonesia. Used for chair seating. Chair cane should not be used dry as it can be brittle. To raise it's moisture content plunge the bundle of cane into a bucket of water and when the bubbles stop rising from the cane remove it from the water. To help the flexibility and friction of the cane place a little drop of linseed oil in the water bath. If it becomes dry in working, damp it with a wet cloth. This is a natural material, therefore the weight may vary due to moisture loss. Chair Cane Size Guide Number of holes per 15cm (6\") 15 = Cane Size 1 and 2 14 = Cane Size 1 and 2, or all Size 2 13 = Cane Size 2 and 3, or all Size 2 12 = Cane Size 2 and 3, or 2 and 4, or all Size 3 11 = Cane Size 3 and 4, or 2 and 4, or all Size 4 The size used depends mainly on the distance between the holes in the chair seat. This is measured either from the centre of one hole to the next, or by the number of holes in a given distance. Lengths of cane will vary between 2 and 3 mts.
