Meet a Maker - Stitch-Up
This February Stitch-Up has helped add a touch of romance to our Leeds store, writing arguably one of the best love letters around!
Jen Sharp, the mastermind behind social enterprise Stitch-Up, can often be seen around the city teaching groups how to crochet, knit, create macrame and giving Pom to the People! So we're excited to be exhibiting one of her latest pieces of community work.
Originally part of a bigger exhibition at Leeds Gallery, her fluffy pom pom love letters were created with the help of pom pommers from across the city, spreading her dedication to showcase the value of craft and textiles in the modern world.
Throughout October 2017 she teamed up with The Gallery at 164 to run a series of fun pom pom making workshops to bring people together of all ages to be creative and take some time out to talk about simply what makes you happy.
Over 120 people attended and hundreds and hundreds of beautiful poms were made from recycled and waste yarns whilst people enjoyed discussing and exploring happiness. The result? A fluffy collection of words to put a smile on your face.
Now taking pride of place inside our Leeds store, the letters offer up the perfect Instagram opportunity to spread a lil' love with your Valentine's, Gal-entines or Pal-entines. Don’t forget to tag us (@fredaldous) and @stitch-up in your selfies before the 28th February for your chance to win a £100 Fred Aldous gift voucher.
