Marcus Method

Unfinished business

Unfinished business

Marcus Method is an extraordinary artistic talent. Hailing from Sheffield, Marcus’ distinctive style can be seen all across the Steel City. We had the pleasure of working with Marcus when we opened our Sheffield store back in 2020. We asked him to transform the front with a stunning 20-foot Mural. Marcus' work perfectly represents the vibrant and eclectic atmosphere that Sheffield has to offer. We welcomed Marcus back at the end of 2022 to complete the creative journey we began.

Method to the madness

Method to the madness

Marcus has been drawing and painting since childhood, first discovering a love for Graffiti around the age of 15. Graffiti opened his eyes to a new world of colour palettes, creative ideas, individuality, and painting techniques that still influence his work today.

Over the years, he slowly evolved from painting letters to characters and then pattern-based work. This journey allowed him to collect varying ideas and techniques, but another big inspiration was his time working as an Architectural Technologist. His use of flat simple, black-line work filled with patterns is heavily influenced by the drawing style and philosophies of traditional architectural drawings.

Early on, abandoned buildings were where Marcus honed his skills as a painter. As Sheffield City centre underwent redevelopment, an array of new canvases appeared in the form of hoarding boards surrounding building sites, presenting his work to a wider audience. Today his work can be seen in a vast range of places across the country and, of course, in the occasional disused building.

We're just one of many to spot the talent of Marcus. His style and artistic vision have caught the attention of major companies, including Clarks Shoes and Nike, to name but a few. Through these collaborations, Marcus has had the opportunity to create some of his largest murals while still always staying true to his trademark style.

Marcus usually works on other personal projects outside his client-based work. The process for these is deeply rooted in his surroundings and the visual stimuli he encounters daily. Marcus constantly seeks out elements that strike a chord with him aesthetically, whether it's the human body, architecture, or everyday objects. Working with Marcus has been a joy, and we can't wait to see his future projects.
